Japanese Sum Cave - SSC Edition

(Published on 21. September 2023, 17:26 by Niverio)

This is a puzzle I created in 45 minutes for a SSC (Speed Setting Competition) in the CTC Discord server, where the contestants were asked to create a hybrid of two puzzle genres. I decided to use this opportunity to challenge myself to create a Japanese Sum + Cave puzzle which was pleasant to solve. This puzzle got 3rd place in the competition, so I hope I succeeded! Estimated difficulty is around 2.5 stars, closer to 2 stars if you are experienced in the genres. Enjoy!

Rules:
Latin Square: Place the digits 1-9 into each row and column without repeats, including shaded cells.
Japanese Sums: Numbers outside the grid are Japanese Sums clues. They show the sum of the unshaded blocks in correct order. At least one shaded cell must separate the unshaded blocks. The values in shaded cells are irrelevant for the Japanese sum clues, and for each row or column, either all or no clues are provided.
Cave: Shade some cells so that shaded cells form a cave. At the end of the puzzle, all unshaded cells must be orthogonally connected (creating the cave), and all shaded cells must be orthogonally connected to the edge of the grid. (the walls)

Puzzle Links: You can solve this puzzle in either Penpa+ or in the CTC Software. Answer check is enabled for correct digit placement and correct shading of walls (any gray / black color)
