Chaos deconstruction: shade some cells so that no two shaded cells are orthogonally adjacent and the remaining unshaded cells form one orthogonally connected area. No 2x2 area may be entirely unshaded. In the unshaded area, 7 8-cell orthogonally connected regions containing the digits 1-8 must be located. Digits cannot repeat in any unshaded row, column or region.
Aquapelago: if a clued given digit cell is shaded, the clue indicates the number of shaded cells in the diagonally connected group it belongs to.
Sightlines: if a clued given digit cell is unshaded, the digit indicates the number of unshaded cells that can be seen orthogonally from that cell, including itself. Shaded cells and region borders block vision.
Digits inside a cage do not repeat and sum to the small clue in the top left corner. Shaded cells contribute 0 to the total.
Below is an example grid (minus the Sudoku) for illustrative purposes. It is not an actual puzzle. "Shaded" cells are grey, e.g. R1C1.

Really nice puzzle. I made a mistake and spent ages backtracking because I enjoyed the rules and setting so much I had to finish it.
