It's only the break-in that's hard

(Published on 28. August 2023, 01:35 by HalfBakedLunatic)

This puzzle may look really difficult ... but don't worry, it's only the break-in that's hard! :-)

The Rules:
• Normal Sudoku Rules Apply.
• A black dot between cells indicates cell values with a 2:1 ratio. A white dot between cells indicates cells with consecutive values. All dots are shown.
• The digits along each arrow must sum to the digit in the circled cell.

SPOILER ALERT: Many of my family and friends don't understand the 'variant' Sudoku puzzles or the type of logic used for a puzzle like this, so I recorded a quick video that explains the break-in logic for this one: It's only the break-in that's hard - Explanation Video

Solution code: Column 8, top to bottom

I saw your post on LinkedIn so I had to try this one. Sweeeeet. The opening is very clever, quite tricky. The rest is just as hard, but more 'brute force Sudoku' which is fine by me! More please!

The break-in is the only "easy" part of this puzzle. That's because you at least have something to bite on. Once you finish the left 3 boxes, and have goodliffed col 4 and row 5, you have to search a completely empty grid, cell by cell, to find anything at all, with nothing to go on.

-- Thanks VitP. My thinking (perhaps erroneously) was that the break-in requires "unusual" logic which seems next to impossible if you don't see the trick to it. I have some ideas for a follow up :-)

Super! Hoe kan iemand dit minder dan 100% beoordelen? Het is een mooie puzzel.

Your puzzles just get more and more beautiful, this is a work of art. Pure genius! I watched the video after going through a far more complicated break in path.

For me the 2nd half was harder than the break-in

-- Yeah, you might be right. I put so much work into "designing" the opening sequence, but now that I've gone back and worked through the whole thing a few more times, there are certainly some tricky bits!
