Rules:
Normal sudoku rules apply: Each row, column and box must contain the digits 1 to 9 once each.
Thermometer: Digits along a thermometer increase from the bulb end.
Indexing (159): Digits in column 1 indicate the column in which the digit 1 appears in that row. The same applies to columns 5 and 9, with the digits 5 and 9 respectively. (For example, if R7C1 is a 6, R7C6 is a 1. If R4C5 is a 3, R4C3 is a 5.)

The step function thermometers in the colour zones were really helpful. I still had to rely heavily on the X 10-X symmetry inherent in indexing to complete the solve. A beautiful and tightly crafted work. Thanks to the setter.
