Parity Paradox

(Published on 14. August 2023, 18:54 by marty_sears)

This was inspired by the fantastic puzzle 'Chromosomes' by Bellal and The Pedalling Pianist.

Rules:

  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Each line within a 3x3 box has the same total, which is displayed in yellow in that box. (2-digit yellow totals read from left to right.)
  • The digit in the purple diamond indicates how many of the yellow totals have the same parity (oddness/evenness) as itself.

There are a couple of beautiful consequences of the ruleset and the positioning of some elements, that was brilliant. It challenged me for many hours.

What a wonderful puzzle! Every box has it's own little secret. And the diamond is a real jewel.
Thank you for this unusual - but very pretty - idea. :-))
