I'm a Vampire (Nicolas Cage)
(Published on 6. August 2023, 20:48 by gdc)
This is the sequel to No! Not The Vs! (Nicolas Cage). It uses a vampire ruleset similar to this puzzle. If you are puzzled by the title, see this video.
- Normal Sudoku rules apply. Place the digits 1 through 6 in every empty cell. Digits cannot repeat in a row, column or 2 by 3 box
- Each row, column and box contains a vampire cell and a prey cell. Vampire cells cannot also be prey cells
- Each digit appears exactly once in a vampire cell and once in a prey cell
- Values of vampire cells are the sum of the digits in the vampire cell and the prey cell in the same box
- Values of prey cells are zero
- Values in a (nicolas) cage are odd and do not repeat
- Values placed on a (renban) line form a set of consecutive, non-repeating numbers, in any order
Play online: CtC, f-puzzles
Remarks
-
The renban and cage rules all correspond to values, which are modified by the vampire ruleset. Digits can repeat in a cage or on a renban.
- Zero is even
- The f-puzzles version treats all clues as decorative elements. The usual conflict checker wouldn't work correctly because of the vampire ruleset.
- The CtC version of this puzzle has the solution saved. If you see a prompt after filling in the last digit, the solution is correct.
Solution code: Row 1 (6 digits)

I did read the rules several times before I could tell the difference between digits and values, and I realized halfway through the game that the renban line was one and not three.:(

It took me a long time to re-read the rules and realize that digits CAN repeat in cages. It was still pretty difficult, but totally worth it. Thanks!

Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, there are similar (vampire/doubler) puzzles where the rules are the other way around and digits cannot repeat while values can.
