Chaotic sums

Rules:

Construct 5 regions in the grid. Each region consists of 5 orthogonally connected cells.

Place the digits 1-5 once each in every row, column and region.

Clues outside the grid give the sum of digits between each pair of region borders in that row/column. A ? can be any digit from 0-9 (clues cannot start with 0). A * can represent any number of clues, including 0.
In example of a completed grid is shown. In the example, the top has every clue given, while the left demonstrates the ?, ?? and * clues that are used in the main puzzle.

Wow, that was surprisingly hard for me, but a quite satisfying solve, with lots of logic packed into such a small grid. Great puzzle!
