Primal Instinct (Killer Sudoku)

(Published on 25. July 2023, 09:00 by Agent)

This puzzle was a setting challenge for me, I wasn't sure the ruleset would be possible without any additional constraints. But I learned a thing or two about primes in the process. I hope you'll enjoy, this one could be a bit tricky but the ruleset is straightforward.

Rules

  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Digits in cages cannot repeat and must sum to a prime number.

I felt in the prime of life solving this and it was surprisingly smooth for me.

I must have done something wrong, because everything went smoothly for me. That's usually not the case. ;)

This is indeed a prime time puzzle. Just wonderful!

Thanks everyone for the positive comments! I'm glad you had a prime experience solving the puzzle! (Pun intended.)

Beautifully done ! Not that hard after all, considering at first you'll have to juggle with a lot of arithmetic. Some very clever configurations in here, and I learned quite a few things about prime numbers as well. Thanks :)

This is simply one of the best puzzles I've completed. I hit a major wall during the solve and genuinely got stuck for several days (not the puzzle's fault, I was just missing a couple of observations like a dummy) but I refused to quit simply because I was so delighted by this puzzle that I was determined to see it through. Absolutely loved it.

Brilliant puzzle. Didn‘t expect that richness of logic out of the simple ruleset.

Thank you for this awesome puzzle, Agent! I had to take several attempts before I was able to solve it, but that was so worth it. It feels kind of magic that a puzzle with this elegant rule set is even possible. Stunning setting!

I was primed to do some tricky arithmetic but it turned out not to be too necessary :) Clever puzzle!
