Islands 3: Another Archipelagic Discovery

(Published on 21. July 2023, 01:44 by SamuPiano)

This is a 9x9 map of the ocean - there are ocean cells and island cells.

Normal sudoku rules apply.

Kropki sudoku rules apply - digits with a black dot between them must have the property that one is twice the other. Not all dots are given.

Killer sudoku rules apply - digits cannot repeat within a cage and must sum to the number in the top left corner of the cage.

HOWEVER, 18 cells - two in each box, row and column - are 'island' cells, which effectively contain a 0 for the purposes of kropki dots and killer cages. There can be as many island cells as needed in any cage. Digits cannot repeat in a cage regardless of whether they are an island or an ocean cell.

I broke the puzzle the first time I tried it many months ago and couldn’t find my mistake. Came back fresh and am very glad I did. A beautifully wild puzzle.

Excellent puzzle. Finding your way around these islands takes some very clever maneuvering.
