Saarland

(Published on 14. July 2023, 07:40 by farodin64)

Another mini-map puzzle of the federal states, this time the Saarland.
Below is also a list of all other mini-map puzzles about some federal states.

The national border is drawn as a green German Whisper line (looks a bit like a cute Ottifant).
Saarland is named after the river Saar, which flows through the country as the Thermo.
The bulb also marks the position of the state capital Saarbrücken.
The Saarland is divided into 6 districts, just like the 6 killer cages here reproduce the districts.
Have fun!

Rules

  1. Normal Sudoku rules apply.
  2. German Whisper: Adjacent digits along the green line must have a difference of at least 5.
  3. Thermo: Digits along the length of the thermometer are increasing in both directions from the bulb.
  4. Killer: The sum of the digits in the cage must add up to the clue in the upper left corner of the cage.
  5. V: The cells with the V in between add up to 5.

Very easy start but had to do a LOT of scanning midway through and that's where I can go wrong. Luckily I took my time to get it right first time but there are 4x4 puzzles on LMG that take a couple of minutes which are truly 1 star - I think this should be 2 star minimum. Be nice to have some guidelines how we rate these puzzles. Einstein's theory of relatively might come in handy methinks haha :)

Thank you for the next nice Bundesland to solve, farodin64! It turned out to be harder for me than I initially thought. I got a little stuck in the middle and might have missed some easier arguments there. Anyways, the solve has been great fun nevertheless.

So, at the end of the day hopefully the "Joy" in your name was satisfied. :-)

Very nice puzzle, I like these federal states theme. I have solved this puzzle without using the 22 sum in the relative cages, I think that the sum value of these cages is unnecessary.
Thank you for setting it!..

Thank you for your kind comment. For sure not all cage totals are necessary, I try to keep the puzzles not too hard, so that all of us have fun with it. But a solve w/o all three 22-cage totals surprising me, well done!
