Pointed Chaos

(Published on 30. June 2023, 20:03 by yttrio)

I have initially listed this as 5 stars for difficulty, though it may be on the easier side of 5 stars.

Rules:

Chaos Construction: Each row, column, and region must contain the digits 1-9 once each. Regions consist of a set of nine orthogonally connected cells and must be determined by the solver.

Digits along an arrow must sum to the digit in the arrow's bulb.

The digit in each arrow's bulb is also equal to the number of cells from the same region (including itself) that the bulb sees in all orthogonal directions combined. Region borders block the view.

Solution code: Row 5 with hyphens where there are region borders (e.g., 123-4567-89)

Very nice puzzle. A lot of interesting deductions. I'd put this one on the high side of 3-stars difficulty if you've seen the diagonal arrow break-in before.

Phenomenal! So hard for me to ask the right questions, but once asked the answers were pure elegance. Halfway in things finally clicked and it was silky smooth up to the glorious last circle :)
