Trebuchet (Slingshot Multi-Sudoku)
(Published on 5. July 2023, 08:00 by tallcat)
I had been thinking of setting a multi-grid puzzle for a while and was inspired by the slingshot fog of war and
"Quilt" puzzles by
mnasti2. Happy solving!
Normal 6 x 6 sudoku rules apply in each grid
Renban: Digits on red lines must form a consecutive, non-repeating set
Whisper: Adjacent digits on green lines must differ by 3 or more.
Region Sum: For each blue line, digits on the line have an equal sum N within each box it passes through.
Killer: Digits cannot repeat in cages and must sum to the given total
Slingshot: A digit on a bent arrow shows how many cells away the digit in the cell from which the arrow originates
first appears in the direction of the arrow. For example, in the top right grid, if R3C4 is a 3, then the digit in R3C5 would also appear in R6C4. Digits can also be 'flung' into adjacent grids - in such cases, the white space between grids is not counted as a cell.
Can be played online at
Penpa or
Sudokupad
Solution code: Row 5 of each grid in the order top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right. 24 digits, no spaces

Quite tricky, but really interesting logic built in throughout.

Took me an embarrassingly long time for that one or two breakthroughs around the top two grids but other than that, it was a joyful solve from start to finish with lots of cool stuff along the way :)

I really struggled with this one, but through no 'fault' of the constructor. Thoroughly recommended.

Awesome! Great interactions throughout. Noticing the *first appears* rule constituted a huge break-through for me. XD
