Meidjuluk Fillomino Permaculture

(Published on 27. June 2023, 09:00 by Agent)

It occurred to me that Meidjuluk (a puzzle genre newly invented by glum_hippo) and Fillomino have some similar yet complementary logic, so I thought they'd be the perfect candidates for a Permaculture. This is probably a fairly challenging puzzle, especially at the start. If you're new to Meidjuluk, I can recommend glum_hippo's puzzle to get familiarized with the logic.

Rules

  • Divide the grid into two areas of orthogonally connected cells. One of the areas is a Meidjuluk (N=9), the other is a Fillomino.

  • Meidjuluk: Divide the Meidjuluk area into 9 regions, one of each size 1 to 9. A Meidjuluk region may not contain repeated numbers, and it may only contain factors of its size (eg a region of size 6 may contain any combination of 1,2,3, and 6, including none of them).

  • Fillomino: Divide the Fillomino area into orthogonally connected regions such that no two Fillomino regions of the same size share an edge, and enter a number into each cell equal to the size of its region.

Example Puzzle (6x6) with regions of size 1 to 6 in the Meidjuluk area.

Main Puzzle (10x10)

Solution code: For each row, from top to bottom, give the length of the longest continuous stretch of cells belonging to the same region.

Magnificent puzzle. Really nice interaction between rules. Not the hardest 5* puzzle, but it would still help if I could count ...

Amazing puzzle! Very smooth once the clever initial deductions are performed correctly!

Very nice! It 'only' took me an hour and a half, which is less than 5 star puzzles usually take me.

Oh my goodness. What a nice puzzle, though very very hard for me (took me literal hours to solve, breaking it many times along the way).

hard but a lot of fun interactions! made several incorrect leaps about which cells had to join up with what, but it came together very nicely once I asked the right questions
