Battle With The Archers 39: The Lifeline of Three Worlds
(Published on 19. June 2023, 10:11 by Playmaker6174)
This is the 39th puzzle of my
Battle With The Archers collection and also the next part of my
Three Worlds mini-series, where I try to explore some advanced arrow mechanics and put them together to make some unique puzzles.
During drafting ideas for the next big project, I was quite bored so I decided to go back solving some of the puzzles that I'd missed in the past while also revisiting some of my oldies, then there randomly came an idea that I actually haven't thought about before. With my casual unpleasant curiosity, I wanted to dive deeper into it.
I've been tinkering about this idea for a short while and there occurred some annoying details that I stumbled upon, but thanks to some of the computer solvers (with also a long computation time), I was able to modify the idea and produce the final result out of it. I hope you enjoy the flow of this puzzle!
(Setter note: It's quite hard to judge proper difficulty of this one. I initially thought it's around low 4 difficulty but it might be less, I guess it depends on how fast one would see the overall idea here)
Rules:
- Normal Sudoku rules apply: every row, column and 3x3 box contains digits from 1 to 9 each once. Digits don't repeat along the highlighted main diagonal.
- Digits along an arrow must sum to the digit in the circle cell attached to that arrow. Digits along an arrow can repeat if allowed by other rules.

Good luck and have fun solving!
Solution code: Row 2 (left to right) then column 8 (top to bottom), 18 digits long

34 down 6 to go. This was hard, very hard. Took a long time to see the break in but once that was found it still came up with more challenges. Fantastic construction.

Very nicely constructed, as I have come to expect! I figured out the main idea pretty quickly but it still took me some time to work through it all. I think a low 4/5 is a reasonable difficulty.
