Red Bubbles
(Published on 12. April 2023, 22:35 by antiknight)
This puzzle is inspired by Migu's puzzle called Diversity which you can try
here. I had an idea in combining this new constraint with arrows, and I think their interaction produces some fresh and original logic. I'd appreciate any feedback on the puzzle or the Diversity Circles constraint. I think this rule can be explored more and I'm enjoying setting with it, so expect harder puzzles than this one in the future!
Rules:
1) Normal Sudoku rules apply:
Place the digits 1-9 into each cell of the grid. None of the rows, columns or boldly outlined 3x3 boxes contain repeated digits.
2) Standard Arrows rules apply:
The digits along each arrow must sum to the digit in the circled cell. Digits may repeat along an arrow if permitted by other rules
3) Diversity Circles rules apply:
A digit in a red circle indicates the number of unique digits in the up to 9 cells adjacent to it (including itself) e.g. if the 9 cells adjacent to a red circle have the digits 111223334, then the circle must be 4.
