Chaos Control

(Published on 15. April 2023, 01:59 by Scojo)

This puzzle was originally set in March 2023 for the Cracking the Cryptic Discord's monthly prompt of "Gibberwocky's Difficult Second Album." The task was to set a sequel to a previous puzzle. This is a fresh attempt at the ruleset I used in the first puzzle I set: Merry Christmas Zetamath.

Rules:
  • Chaos Construction Sudoku: Place 1-9 in each row, column, and 9 cell orthogonally connected region. Regions must be determined by the solver.
  • Renbans: Pink lines contain a set of consecutive digits in any order.
  • German Whispers: Digits on green lines must have a difference of at least 5 with any neighbor on the line.
  • Each region must contain a different number of cells that are on lines, and all lines in a region must be of the same type.
  • A number in a circle shows the number of cells in its region that have a line in them.
  • Digits in gray squares are even.

Thank you for this puzzle! Broke it the first time I tried it and had to start over again. But well worth the effort. Some fun logical deductions here.

Took me several attempts because I kept making premature assumptions, but the puzzle was so wonderful that I simply had to finish it ... and finally did. Thanks for a great time!

Enjoyable puzzle for sure! I felt it was more 2-3 star difficulty.

I very much enjoyed this puzzle. The interaction of the circle and line constraints work beautifully together to produce many enjoyable deductions.
