Divisor cage sudoku #1

(Published on 3. April 2023, 10:53 by Nylimb)

Normal sudoku rules apply: Fill the grid with digits from 1 to 9, so that every row, column, and 3x3 box contains each of the 9 digits exactly once.

In each cage, defined by the dashed lines, the smallest digit is a divisor of every digit in the cage. E.g. 2,6,8 would be acceptable in a cage, but 6,8 without the 2 would not. Digits cannot repeat within a cage.

A clue outside the grid gives the sum of the digits along the indicated diagonal; digits may repeat along diagonals.

After making Kropki'd calcudoku #2, I wondered if I could do something similar in a sudoku puzzle, and this is the result. Such a puzzle can't have a unique solution if only the cages are given. I considered adding kropki dots or thermometers to give the extra information that's needed, but found that little killer clues worked better.

For an easier puzzle of this type, see Divisor cage sudoku #2.

You can solve this in Penpa or in the CTC-app.

Solution code: Row 1 and row 9.

Super fun puzzle and an excellent idea! Had to think for a few minutes on the bottom left, but I'm happy I found that modular arithmetic (mod 4) resolved all the 3/9s on the little killer diagonals without having to fry my brain on addition combinations. Looking forward to solving more of your puzzles and you're also welcome to look at mine!

@bodemeister: Thanks for your comments; I'm glad you enjoyed the puzzle.

So far I've only solved one of yours, Counterclockwise Killer (000CXC), and I found it much harder than its "average" rating. I'll study its hidden comments to see what I missed.

@Nylimb thank you for solving my Counterclockwise Killer puzzle. If you like you can view my guide for that puzzle here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Xg96An4UzKSqIDbKGAVEKkilssri9mik/view?usp=drive_link. I'm working on your Average Line sudoku now. Cheers!
