Infrared [Sum Detector Fillomino]

(Published on 24. March 2023, 20:45 by MicroStudy)

Rules

  • Fillomino: Divide the grid into regions so that no two regions of the same size share an edge. Enter a number into each cell equal to the size of its region.
  • Sum Detector: A digit in a cell containing an arrow indicates the sum of the digits in the first N cells in the direction of the arrow, where N must be determined by the solver, and may be different for each arrow. (A cell containing multiple arrows indicates the sum of each arrow in its cell, not the sum of all arrows in its cell.)
  • The cell/s that comprise the total may NOT be part of the sum detector's region.
  • Not all arrows are necessarily given.

This is not going on my FB page (because I don't have any), but it will belong to my personal "hall of puzzling fame" nonetheless !! Awesome construction ! J'en ai dit assez ! (That's the french translation for "I said enough!")

Challenging, but lots of interesting and lovely deductions all the way! That opening and the last third of the solve were my favorite parts :)

This is the pinnacle of open-world game design. No microtransactions, no DRM, no bullsh*t. Much like Elden Ring, it sets players off on an adventure in a vast and beautiful universe, giving them the freedom to approach its sandbox however they deem fit. It also poses its own sets of challenges in the form of massive fillominos and tricky cells with multiple arrows. Very intricate puzzle-platforming awaits in addition to the fun and colorful exploration. So if any of those things sound like your kind of jam, and, for some reason, you are still yet to give this masterpiece a try, then now is the time to do so.
