SHADING: Shade some cells so that in the finished puzzle cells containing values exactly one greater than an immediate neighbour (diagonally or orthogonally) within their box are shaded (and otherwise unshaded).
The shading pattern must have a left-right symmetry in the grid.
ANTI-KNIGHT: Cells a knight's move apart cannot contain the same digit.
Otherwise standard Sudoku rules apply.
Solution code: row 4 col 5

Take out the Holy Pin, then shall thou count to three, no more no less
Three shall be the number thou shall count
And the number of the counting shall be three...
Thanks for the nice puzzle. I enjoyed it very much.
---Thanks, as always, for the solve.
I watched The Holy Grail again last year, expecting to find it very dated. It wasn't.

I agree with josh_johnson, you CAN'T read the rules carelessly. The puzzle is pretty easy but it took me several attempts and a combined time of 90 minutes to crack simply because it took a couple of reads to really understand the implifications of the rule set.
---
That's interesting -- I have wondered if the way I give rules is a bit wonky and I am very open to suggestions to how they might be improved (here or for any other puzzle).
Anyway thanks for the solve and I hope you enjoyed it despite my wonky instructions.

Lovely puzzle with a smooth solve path. Good difficulty to solve with my 7 year old daughter and introduce her to the anti-knight constraint.
My only advice to solvers is to read the rules and don't just skim them. We broke it the first couple of times before I realized that we overlooked a couple key words.

Glad you and your daughter enjoyed the puzzle, thanks for the solve.

That was a fun spin on the shading constraint! I actually found that easier than some of the other ATK shaders. Thanks for setting!

Thanks for the kind comment. Don't tell anyone but I invented this puzzle by accident.

very nice puzzle - enjoyed the twist on having to think in reverse for the rule set. thanks

Thanks for the kind comment.

What's meant by left-right symmetry? Cells left and right of the 5th column must have the same shading?
---
Exactly that. Good luck.

Very nice puzzle. I really enjoyed the logic. I agree that it was a 2-star puzzle. Thank you for setting!

I figure this is a 2-star puzzle, but it's so easy to go wrong that I've left it at the "default" 3-star. Good luck!
