Border Indexer - Sum #2: Arithmetic Maze
(Published on 27. February 2023, 18:11 by Playmaker6174)
The following puzzle is the follow-up one of the Border Indexer concept, for the previous 9x9 one see
this link.
This time I tried to fuse the concept with another familiar constraint, specifically standard killer constraint and eventually created some colorful interplay between the two constraints. At the end I created two different versions of this, but I found the second one to be nicer and less grinding overall, for the first one I shall share it in the hidden comments below just for extra contents :)
(also, thanks Vebby as well for the constructive feedback on the setting process of this entry!)
This second version is also quite tricky but shouldn't be too hard overall in my opinions. I hope you enjoy!
Rules:
- Normal Sudoku rules apply: every row, column and 3x3 box contains digits from 1 to 9 each once.
- Digits within a cage don't repeat and they sum to the small number written in the top left of that cage.
- Let X be the value of the cell that's next to an outside clue, then that clue shows the sum of cells that share the Xth border counting from the direction of that clue in its row/column.
If X is 9, the clue is instead the value of the furthest cell from that clue.
To demonstrate how the rule works, here's an example:

Good luck and have fun solving!
Solution code: Row 6 (left to right) and column 2 (top to bottom), 18 digits long with no space
