Japanese Sum Battleship Cipher #2

(Published on 17. February 2023, 01:50 by wisty)

KNT is about to lose a game of battleship! Oh no!! Thankfully, he is allowed as many hits as he would like as long as none are misses. Can you help him locate all of his opponent's ships?

Fill each cell on the grid with a digit from 0-9 such that no digits repeat in any row or column. All digits 0-9 have been assigned a single letter from K-T to represent them. Clues inside the grid are given digits. Question marks represent any digit from 0-9. Double digit clues do not have leading 0s. Triple digit clues may have any number of leading 0s.

Place the battleships located below the grid so that ships do not touch each other orthogonally or diagonally, and any given digits match. Rotating ships is permitted, but ships may not appear on cells marked with water. It must be determined how many of each ship type appears in the grid.

Clues on the left and top sides of the grid are japanese sum clues. Cells containing battleship cells are shaded, and all other cells are unshaded. Clues on one side (top or left) give the sums of all groups of contiguous shaded cells in that row or column, with at least one unshaded cell separating them. Clues on the other side (top or left) give the sums of all groups of contiguous unshaded cells in that row or column, with at least one shaded cell separating them.

Single digit arrow clues give the number of ship cells seen in the direction of the arrow. Double digit arrow clues give the sum of ship cells seen in the direction of the arrow. Arrow clues inside the grid are single digits and never ship cells.

White dots separate consecutive digits.

Is there a reason some clues are red or was that just an aesthetic choice?

The colors are purely aesthetic! :)

Amazing puzzle! A really minimally clued grid with a lot of surprising, tight deductions.
