Renban Walls Series

  1. Mini Renban Walls (Zetamath Solve)
  2. Crumbling Walls
  3. Gatehouse
  4. Watchtower

Rules:

Normal sudoku rules apply.

Digits touching a purple renban wall form a non-repeating set of consecutive digits. A wall touches all cells which overlap any of its corner or edge segments. A wall also divides its set of digits into regions. Digits in a region are consecutive and can appear in any order.

Informal Rules:

Renban walls are three renban in one. One side of the wall: renban. The other side of the wall: also renban. The whole thing: you better believe it's renban!

Comments are always welcome. Have fun!

Now I may be daft, but since box 8, cells 23589 are on one side of the wall, the sudoku is impossible.

That's because Low Digits are 1234 and High Digits are 6789.

And in Box 8 there would be either a 1234 Quintuplet or a 6789 Quintuplet, which is nonsense.

Or did I miss something?

Thanks for the question. I'll provide some thoughts, hopefully they're helpful.

The division between high and low digits around a wall is with respect to the digits touching the wall, not strictly between the 'high (6789)' and 'low (1234)' digits. Consider one of the walls in Box 9. It touches 4 digits. If those digits were 1234, the highest or lowest digit in that set would go on one side of the wall, with the remaining three digits on the other side of the wall. So the division would be 1|234 or 123|4.

Consider the wall between boxes 8 and 9. This wall touches nine cells, and so they must contain one set of the digits 1-9. The wall divides them into a group of four and a group of five. Thus, the partition is either 12345|6789 or 1234|56789.

I have also set a 6x6 with this same ruleset which is intended to be an introduction to the renban walls constraint. You might find that one instructive before tackling this puzzle.
