XY-Differences VII, "Quitte"

(Published on 12. February 2023, 02:00 by glum_hippo)

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Digits along a blue 'Region Sum Line' must add to the same total in each region that the line enters. If two segments of the line are in the same box, each segment adds to the target total. Each line may or may not have a different associated total.

If there's a diamond between two horizontally adjacent cells, then the absolute value of their difference is the same as the leftmost digit in that row.

If there's a diamond between two vertically adjacent cells, then the absolute value of their difference is the same as the topmost digit in that column.

Not all possible diamonds are necessarily given.

And here is the puzzle (also available on the CtC app):

Solution code: Row 2, then column 3 (18 digits total).

Nice and interesting logic, the small equal sum line powerfully disambiguating at the end.

Lovely puzzle. Not too hard - the break-in is particularly neat and sustained logic alongside a smooth solve. One head scratch moment soon resolved. Definitely harder than 2 and below a 4 for difficulty.

—— thanks for your comment, and for being such a good shepherd to others for the Fossil Hunt.

I found this much harder than 2/5 - but it was my first time solving this type of puzzle so it's certainly on me. Nonetheless, was very enjoyable and well constructed!
