Where are the clues?

(Published on 10. February 2023, 01:05 by ralphwaldo1)

This is light practice before attempting this more challenging puzzle. Comments appreciated.

Play on CtC.

Normal sudoku rules apply.

The grid is covered with fog which will lift to reveal clues as correct digits are entered.

Shade some squares so that each cell in the top row gives the correct count of shaded cells in its column, and each cell in the left-hand column gives the correct count of shaded cells in its row. All shaded cells must be othogonally connected, as must all unshaded cells, and no 2x2 square of cells can consist only of shaded cells or only of unshaded cells.

Palindrome: the digits on the black line read the same from both directions.

Balancer: on the red line the sum of the shaded digits must equal the sum of the unshaded digits.

Solution code: 3rd row. Enter first the numbers, then letters S/U (for shaded and unshaded cells). No spaces. For instance: 4312SUUS

Great puzzle, I don't know why it's not rated higher! Very interesting logic for such a little grid. Enjoyed it, thanks!

The rules were somewhat confusing to me. The sum of the shaded cells on the red line must equal the sum of the unshaded cells ON THE RED LINE it shoud read.

Nice little teaser - unfortunately its size does make it prone to guessing, but the shading/ying-yang rules was a nice break in

I liked it. There were some nice deductions. You have to think about how to shade first to get the first digit.
