Qi Manifest (Yin Yang Sum Lines)

(Published on 17. January 2023, 16:00 by Xendari)

Qi Manifest

I have wanted to try my hand at a Yin Yang / Sudoku hybrid for quite a while now - in my opinion, the inherent rules around shading create a unique base for other constraints. This shouldn't be a very tricky puzzle, but the constraint interactions should present some new and interesting ideas. Your feedback is appreciated, and I hope you enjoy Qi Manifest :)

Rules

  • Sudoku: Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Yin Yang: Shade the grid using two colours, such that all instances of each colour are orthogonally connected, and no 2x2 area is completely one colour.
  • Shading Sum Lines: Blue lines must have an equal sum N within each colour they pass through. If a blue line passes through a colour multiple times, each individual pass sums to N. All lines must cross colours at least once.
  • Ratio: Two digits separated by a black dot have a ratio of 2. Not all dots are given.

Do every blue lines have to be in both shaded and unshaded regions? I understood so. I'm just trying to figure out if I got it wrong as I'm stuck with Box 1.

Yes - it was hard to word it completely unambiguously, but every line must have at least one cell in each of shaded/unshaded. For example, if there was a two-cell line, that would always have to be the same digit but with different shading on each cell.

Great puzzles!
Although there was a stuck point in the middle that I didn't figure out clearly, it took a few minutes, the whole solution process was quite pleasant, thank you!
