Rules:
Normal irregular sudoku rules apply.
Place two stars in each row, column, and region. Stars may not touch orthogonally or diagonally.
Every star must be a friendly cell (must contain digits which match row number, column number, or both).
Clues outside the grid identify the amount of cells between stars in that column.

Oh wow, the break-in took me a lot longer than i'd care to admit, but once the realization hit, the stars came quickly and the rest of the solve was very orderly. Very nice and clever!

It took me a while to realize the break-in, and then there are some tricky steps after that, and it was all fantastic fun. Excellent puzzle.

Who doesn't enjoy a good star battle? and this one has a clever break-in as well!! Nice idea and lovely setting.
