9-steps Tutorial: Arrows

Here is a tutorial sudoku teaching the arrow constraint and aimed at first-timers. it is accessible, though not the easiest puzzle. It is build to showcase some common arrow logic you will find in almost any arrow sudoku there is!

Rules: Normal sudoku rules. Along arrows, digits sum to the digit in the corresponding circle.

If you enjoyed it or want to try out different constraints, check out my other tutorials in the serie here.

I've been coming back to this one over the last few months. Always stumped before, but finally pushed through today. Challenging for me, but fair. Thanks for the fun puzzle.

Very nice puzzle. This isn't a 1/5 difficulty, but it's definitely illustrative of arrows. Thanks for sharing!

Reply: Hey, thanks for the kind comment. I think I did put 2* when posting, but the opinion of the crowd is beyond my control! ;)

Such a cool idea! Probably something I should have explored with my own puzzles (personal variant) XD That was beautifully executed -- every arrow felt like it indeed has its own specific purpose and thing to teach. Now I'm usually the one who gets surprised out of nowhere on here and leaving comments like the one below, but that was really, really smooth, and personally I'd say it succeeds quite well at what's aimed for -- a very nice beginner puzzle! :-)

Reply: Thanks a lot for your kind comment, glad you liked it :)

I've done quite a few arrow sudokus, but this was still by far the hardest "tutorial" I've ever completed.

I mean for me it was maybe 2/5 and a very nice one, but the tutorial title can create some surprises for actual first timers.

Reply: Thanks for the feedback. I can only agree, but I was afraid that an easier puzzle did not force the new players to think about the logic they use. Hopefully, this does not make them turn away from variant sudoku!
