Twilight Nurikabe

(Published on 3. January 2023, 02:12 by KNT)

Shade some cells in the grid such that all shaded cells are connected and no 2x2 area is entirely shaded.

We call orthogonally connected groups of unshaded cells islands. If a number is on an island cell, it indicates the size of the island. Every island must have exactly one number on it.

If a number is on a shaded cell, it indicates the total number of shaded cells visible in all four directions from that cell (including itself), where island cells obstruct vision.

Fun puzzle!
A bit tricky for me in places, mostly because I haven't done many nurikabe before, but lots of interesting logic and a fun puzzle.

Some tricky steps, but really fun. I felt like I learned a lot about the ruleset from this puzzle.

Very nice puzzle ! Still playing with ambiguity, but a lot less mind-twisting for me than the cipher puzzles :)
And as Niverio pointed out, it cost me some time to spot that I had miscounted a 7 around the end...

Great puzzle, very enjoyable, interesting and challenging. For me personally it was probably four stars difficulty.

this puzzle importantly teaches you how to count properly, as the solution path is very tight and one miscount may cost the solver dearly :)
