Joint authorship with my dad

My dad's idea of a 73-cell equal sums line with doublers has been many months in the making. I took the idea in a different direction to create Rudolph?, but after my dad and I returned to the original idea, we were able to discover a pure setting.

---

Normal sudoku rules apply.

Equal sums line (or "Region sum"): digits on the blue line have an equal sum, N, within each box through which it passes. If the line passes through the same box more than once, each line segment sums to N separately.

Doublers: there is exactly one "doubler" in each row, column and 3x3 box. These are the digits 1-9 once each. For the purpose of the equal sums line, a digit in a "doubler" cell counts as twice the digit's value.

The yellow line between r6c5 and r6c6 is purely aesthetic, i.e. box 5 has two distinct line segments.

Solution code: Row 5 and the yellow line (11 digits, no spaces)

Intricate plotting indeed - a joy to solve, with plenty to work out.

Fantastic puzzle with similar ideas to the Rudolph puzzle, but with another level with some very elegant and powerful deductions around the end. Thanks !

To clarify, does the yellow line denote the start and end of the equal sum line (and shows they are not connected as a loop? Or is the yellow line itself an equal sum line? The latter question felt silly until I realized there are doublers so it's actually possible in this puzzle.

---

The yellow line is just aesthetic and doesn't denote any kind of clue. I thought it looked nice to connect the whole loop up, and also there's a nice surprise at the end involving the yellow line! But it isn't a clue of any kind in itself.

In other words, box 5 has two distinct line segments on the equal sums line: [r4c4/5, r5c4/5, r6c5] and [r4/5/6c6]

I thought it was rated 3 stars, got on it and assessed I was not doing very well, worked my way through it, came back and the rating had either gone up, or else I was only half paying attention when I went to do it. Either way, lots of fun. Thanks.
