Ambiguous Arrows

(Published on 2. January 2023, 21:17 by antiknight)

I wanted to make an arrow puzzle with a twist and I ended up with setting Ambiguous Arrows. I think this idea can be quite fun and rewarding to solve. Leave a comment if you enjoy the puzzle or have any feedback on this idea.

Rules:
1) Normal Sudoku rules apply:
Place the digits 1-9 into each cell of the grid. None of the rows, columns or boldly outlined 3x3 boxes contain repeated digits.

2) Modified Arrows rules apply:
The digits along each arrow must either sum or multiply to the digit in the circled cell. Each arrow should be unique to one rule (Can't satisfy both sum and multiplication).Digits may repeat along an arrow if permitted by other rules. If an arrow branches then all it's branches belong to the same arrow type. The arrow type must be deduced by the solver. For example , if both R4C4 and R5C3 are 3 then R3C5 either sum to 6 or multiply to 9. If they sum to 6 then the other branch in R4C6 and R5C7 needs to be of the sum type.

Hi Antiknight

Do the arrows connected to circle at r3c5 and r7c5 considered branching arrows?
Also is 123 for a 3 cell arrow be allowed? because it fulfils both addition and multiplication rules with a 6 in circle. Not sure if it really has to be one kind only.

- Yes , they are considered branching arrows. If one side of the arrow is sum then the other needs to be sum as well. In this puzzle , an arrow that fulfills both rules isn't allowed. I'll modify that in the rules thanks :)

Amazing idea executed brilliantly! I struggled a bit to understand the implications of the rules, but the opening really showed the power of multiplication arrows. Thanks antiknight :)

- Thanks Xendari and I'm glad you got through and enjoyed it :)

die Übersetzung ist fehlerhaft :
falsch:
oder mit der Ziffer in der eingekreisten Zelle multiplizieren
korrekt:
oder zu der Ziffer in der eingekreisten Zelle multiplizieren

- Danke und ich habe es behoben.
