Chaotic Snakes

This is my first attempt at creating a chaos construction puzzle. I'm not sure on difficulty, I suspect it depends on how much CC you have done! - Feel free to drop a comment, and I hope you enjoy the puzzle!

Thanks to Virtual for the advice, and the help with setting. Thanks to XeonRisq for the test-solve, and the feedback!

Rules

  • Chaos Construction: The digits 1 to 9 must appear once in every row, column, and region. Regions are to be determined by the solver, and must be a set of nine orthogonally connected cells.
  • Each region is a snake that does not branch, and does not touch itself orthogonally. Each given digit belongs in a different snake, and is positioned in the top-left cell for the region.
  • Cells separated by a V sum to 5, Cells separated by an X sum to 10.
  • V clues always cross a region border, although X clues may not.
  • Not all XV clues are given.

Cool puzzle. The solve after the snakes was quite tricky still for me.
I didn't read the rule about the border division between V-sums, so it is possible to do it without it :)

Question on the ruleset: when it says the given digits are in the top-left cell of their respective regions, does that mean that no cell in the region can be neither above or to the left of that number, or can cells be above as long as they're not to the left of or to the left as long as they're not above the number?

---

A: It's a good question, and I struggled to get the wording right on this rule! It's the same logic as the placement of a killer sum within a cage: The number is in the left-most digit on the top row of the cells within its region. Hope this helps!

---

Thanks for the clarification. The solve was smooth and approachable after I realized where my misunderstanding was. Difficulty somewhere between 2 and 3 stars for me. Great job on your first CC! Enjoyed it. :)
