Double or Nothing

(Published on 14. December 2022, 17:06 by Oddlyeven)

Rules: Place the digits 1 to 9 in each row, column and box such that the following rules apply.
Blank Cells: Each row, column and box has one blank cell that contains no digit. These cells do not count towards cage totals.
Schrodinger Cells: Each row, column and box has one Schrodinger cell that contains two digits. These cells count as the sum of the two digits towards cage totals. Additionally, each digit occurs at most twice in the set of Schrodinger cells.
Restriction: No blank or Schrodinger cell may be within a King's move (in chess) of any other blank or Schrodinger cell.
Killer Cages: Digits in a cage must sum to the number in the top left corner of the cage. Digits may not repeat within a cage.

I absolutely loved this puzzle. I had gotten kinda burnt out on Schrodinger cell puzzles during the initial wave of the variant, but the way they work with the empty cells might make this my new favorite killer sudoku. Really hoping this gets on CTC (or that it already has and I just didn't notice somehow), I have a hunch that a puzzle like this would make Simon's day.

Brilliant puzzle, thanks. (Although I made it hard for myself at first by confusing Schrodinger cells with the doubler cells of previous puzzles!)
