Following on from my last puzzle, here's an application of Game of Life-style shading to killer sudoku.
Normal sudoku rules apply.
Still Life: Each cell is either live (shaded) or dead (unshaded). The (up to) eight cells neighboring a live cell must contain exactly 2 or 3 additional live cells, while a dead cell may not have exactly 3 live neighbors.
Killer: In a cage digits may not repeat and those in live cells must sum to the given total.

Solution code: Digits in row 8 + digits in live cells in column 8 + digits in dead cell in column 9

I was pretty apprehensive of this one, but the lure of having solved all the Still Life puzzles on the site was just too great haha
That was pretty hard for me, and thank goodness the start is really smooth cause I ended up messing up one cell that forced me to backtrack quite a bit. But other than that, I went way better than I expected, cause I was sure this would be beyond my ability. Superb construction! :D

More and more frequently these days, I find myself enjoying the heck out of puzzles that take me over 100 minutes to solve. Good show!
