Double fillomino

(Published on 8. December 2022, 15:38 by filuta)

Huge thanks to ctc discord/lmd users Plostoni, polar and Samish for their test solves and feedback.

Enjoy the puzzle, I will be happy to read your comments.

Rules:

- Write a number in every cell in the grid.

- (standard fillomino) Divide the grid into regions such that no two regions of same size share an edge and such that each region contains only numbers equal to its size.

- (modified fillomino) Divide the grid into regions such that no two regions of same size share an edge and such that each region contains at least one number equal to its size and doesn't contain any higher number.

- (arrows) Number in a cell with an arrow is equal to the number of cells seen in the direction of the arrow until the first border with respect to the first region division (standard fillomino) plus the same for the second region division (modified fillomino).

Example (see the figure below):
-the green cells represent a region with respect to the first division (standard fillomino), it has size 3 and contains only number 3,
-the outlined region is the region with respect to the second division (modified fillomino), it has size 4, contains number 4 at least once and doesn't contain any number higher than 4 (repeats are allowed),
-the arrow sees one cell in the outlined region and two cells in the green region, therefore it must contain number 1+2=3,
-note also that regions with respect to both divisions are allowed to coincide.

Solution code: row 5 and then column 6, X when there is a region border with respect to the modified region division

Interesting puzzle, a lot easier than it looks.

Totally agree with Kafkapharnaum!
Thanks to your support it's finally solved. Not in a way I would be proud of (maybe you have made a video with your intended way??), but anyway. My favourite deduction was c11- really unexpected!

I struggled with this one perhaps more than I should have, but it was fun nonetheless :)

Phew, I managed to do it, but that was some initiation to fillomino, let me tell you! XD I agree that the 'break-in' isn't too hard to figure out, but bringing all the moving parts together and closing the puzzle, that, that took me all I got -- no way this is any less than 5 stars in my book haha
Still, yet another mindblowing puzzle I managed to solve from you -- everytime I manage this, it feels very special. Thanks for being so amazing! :D

Thank you so much!

Great (and funny) puzzle! Even when I got the breakthrough I had to be very careful to consider all the possibilities.
Thank you filuta!

Very funny ruleset and implications, and great use of it!
Hard to estimate the difficulty of the break-in, but overall I have a feeling around 4.5/5. The hardest part was not making mistakes for me :D

A delightfully clever puzzle; definitely had the quintessential filuta a-ha moment for me :) Nice to see a non-sudoku puzzle from you as well - hope there's more on the way!
