Mayfair (Anti-King Region Sum Lines)
(Published on 8. November 2022, 08:22 by Xendari)
Mayfair
This puzzle combines the non-touching constraint with region sum lines, both of which are among my favourite constraints. Region sum lines in particular is something I have only explored quite recently, and this puzzle includes most of the more interesting interactions I stumbled upon while setting. Your feedback is appreciated, and I hope you enjoy Mayfair :)
Rules
Sudoku: Normal sudoku rules apply.
Region Sum Lines: Region sum lines must have an equal sum N within each 3x3 box they pass through.
Anti-King: Two cells separated by a king's move (in chess) must not contain the same digit.

In setting the first version of this puzzle, I ended up creating a grid that uses quite a gimmicky solve path. I won't publish it as its own puzzle, but I will leave the link to it as a hidden comment, in case you find the combination of these constraints interesting.
Solution code: Row 2 followed by Column 8.

I have just reminded myself what a brilliant puzzle this is - an unusual and well-executed mix of what are now standard rules.

Lovely puzzle - the interaction of the king's move with the region sum lines works magic My intuition for kings move will be greatly enhanced now!
