[Fog of War Series] 5.Radar Arrays

(Published on 7. November 2022, 03:48 by AstralSky)

This is the 5th puzzle in my FoW series with a theme of Radars Indexing 5s.
Rules
  • Normal Sudoku Rules apply.
  • Radar: There is one Radar in each box. The placement of Radars follow Anti-Queen rules.(A radar cannot see another radar vertically, horizontally and diagonally.) Each Radar have exactly one Sequence Thermo Bulb within the SAME box orthogonally adjacent to it.Radars are not part of a thermo.
  • Radar Indexing 5: The digit in the radar (can`t be 5) indicates a direction. The direction is decided by the digit`s relative position in a Numberpad with smaller digits on the top.(1: ↖ 2:↑ 3:↗ 4:← 6:→ 7:↙ 8: ↓ 9:↘). The Nth digit in that direction is 5, where N equals to the digit in its paired Thermo Bulb. Example: if R2C3(Radar) is a 9(direction:↘) and its paired thermo bulb is a 5(Distance = 5), then R7C8 must be 5. Each 5 is indexed EXACTLY once.
  • Sequence Thermo: Digits along the thermometer must strictly increase starting from the bulb. Additionally, thermos are 3-cells long (including Bulb) and form a valid Arithmetic Sequence. Thermos may not branch nor intersect.
  • Online Solving Link(Note: Coloring Thermo bulbs would help with distinguishing where the thermo extend to)

    Enjoy!

I normally struggle with three stars, this was one for me. Fun to solve in any case.

For future developments with the radar idea, consider using a larger/simpler/lower contrast symbol to reduce visual conflict with pencil mark legibility.

Very nice puzzle after you punched the rules in your brain. 2nd half easy as soon as radars detected.
