A Puzzle In Celebration Of Diwali (Hindu Festival Of Lights)

(Published on 20. October 2022, 13:03 by Jeet Sampat)

Illumination

Rules:

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

There are 9 illuminating cells in the grid containing the digits 1-9 once each. Illuminating cells cannot see each other in any row, column or box. An illuminating cell containing the digit x illuminates x digits in every diagonal direction starting from itself. In particular, the illuminating cell illuminates itself. No two illuminating cells can illuminate each other.

Cages contain exactly one illuminating cell and cannot have repeated digits.

On arrows and circles, digits illuminated by any illuminating cell have 2x their value. Digits on arrows must sum to the number in its circle.

Try it on the CTC app or f-puzzles (Disable "Highlight conflicts").

Puzzle:

Solution code: Row 9 (left to right) and column 5; 18 digits, no spaces.

I had to bifurcate the last part of the puzzle, which is sad because the logic to break in is beautiful.

Jeet: Thanks for the comment @peterkp. Bifurcation is not necessary at any step. You might have to consider a few cases here and there but it should not need a very long chain anywhere to move forward. Can you tell me precisely where you had to bifurcate?
