Standard sudoku rules apply.
Standard arrow and killer cage rules apply (more details in the app).
The grid is covered with fog. There are two initial light sources that illuminate the darkness and clear the fog. Put correct digits into the cells to get more light (it's ok to put a digit into a cell that is covered by fog).
Note: no guessing is required to finish the puzzle.

Solve online: PuzzleTV or SudokuPad

Solution code: digits of column 9

I have either progressed remarkably well, or this a 2* rather than a 4* puzzle. Any which way I quite enjoyed solving this FoW.

Is there a version of this for the CtC app? The Puzzle TV link doesn't work on my old computer; it just gives me a blank screen.

Puh, that was a tough solve for me, but I found my way through without guessing! :-)

Thank you for this amazing puzzle!

Very fun new concept ! The fog does focus the attention on the uncovered zones, but it doesn't make it easier to get the right deductions. Thanks for bringing this to us !

Great concept. Do you have more puzzles like this one?

Thank you! =)
The only other "fog of war" puzzle that I'm aware of is "Lost" by Dathan, and it's much more approachable than mine: https://logic-masters.de/Raetselportal/Raetsel/zeigen.php?id=000BPY
But I'm sure that others will come soon since SudokuPad is going to support the mechanics.

Thank you. I look forward to more variations of this new concept. =)

One of my all-time favorite puzzles right here. Incredible!

Absolutly brilliant idea. I love this puzzle. A whole new set of logic figuring out, what the clues look like. Don‘t understand, why this is not close to 100% rating. I hope there will be follow-up puzzles.

This puzzle MUST have 100% !!!
What a brilliant idea. Such a fun to solve! :-)))
I'm very glad to be alive, because I lost 4 lives...

That was superb. A great novel concept and brilliant logic to implement it. Congratulations.

Very novel! I both love and hate the concept of having such a narrow solution path with revealed information as you progress through the puzzle.

Fantastic idea. Pretty well implemented too. Great puzzle.

I had the idea some time ago of such a concept, but with no way of implementing it. In the end I'm glad I wasn't the one to make it, your puzzle is just the perfect advocate. Incredible execution, fun, challenging but manageable, a puzzle that renew your sense of wonder. Brilliant, thanks !

Amazing! Lots of time spent staring at the screen at various points, but all the logic is there. A really fun solve!

I think maybe there's not a logical path to success, that one guess is required. Maybe I'm wrong but there was one spot where it seemed like what was revealed would place a certain digit in a certain spot ... but there were actually alternatives, easy to overlook alternatives. I assumed that was what was meant and placed the digit there, which turned out to be correct, but which was technically a guess. That digit could have gone in another place at that point in the puzzle.

Anyway, it bothered me that I had to guess so I backed it up to the point before the guess and spent 4 or 5 hours over the next two days looking for an alternate path. Never found another way to go, but the puzzle unfolded well after that guess.

Anyway, it seemed to me that it was intended to go that way and the alternate placement of the digit was easy to overlook, so that's my thinking, but maybe I'm wrong and I just missed the intended path.

Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed the puzzle. The "unveiling" as you go added a whole new dimension that I've never seen before. Loved that!

Thanks for the feedback!
Can you tell which point of the puzzle are you referring to, pls? (you can post a hidden comment here or contact me in Discord to ensure that it won't spoil anything for people who didn't solve the puzzle yet)

Ha ha, I totally missed that. Very clever. I was wrong, there is a logical path and it is quite beautiful.

Fun puzzle great interactions

Even though the gradual reveal limited the options for where to look next, in many cases the next step was quite tricky. Brilliant logic and execution!

Added clarifications about the "lives"

on 5. October 2022, 23:36 by Samish
Great fun ! The puzzle works really well with the quite inventive ruleset, lots of nice deductions, a few tricky ones.
Unfortunately I couldn't use my keyboard to enter digits (idk if it's a bug)

Very cool puzzle! I found it quite hard, but maybe I just asked the wrong questions...
Still, very entertaining :-)

Thanks, AstralSky!
Indeed, no guessing is required to solve the puzzle. 3 lives are just to make sure that the game doesn't end because of typos, misclicks or making one wrong decision.

Very nice concept and well set logic! Though 3 lives are given but no guessing for light is required throughout the solve.Wondering if there'll be sequels.
