Chaos in the Knighttime

(Published on 5. October 2022, 15:56 by SenatorGronk)

Rules
  • Standard chaos construction sudoku rules apply: Each row, column and region contains the digits 1-9. Regions are comprised of 9 orthogonally connected cells and must be determined.
  • A digit in a diamond indicates how many distinct regions can be found a knight's move away. Gray diamonds belong to one of those regions, white diamonds do not. Not all diamonds are necessarily given.
  • Cells separated by dots are in different regions. Cells on white dots differ by 1, those on black dots are in a 1:2 ratio. Not all dots are given.

NOTE: There is no traditional anti-knight constraint. The same digit can appear a knight's move away.

Two and a half hours? More like two and a half days for me :) Hardest puzzle I've ever solved, and one of the best for sure. Thanks!

I tried this a while ago and made no progress, glad to have got through it and give it a rating now, brutal but superb :)

Wow, this was an incredible one. Took me several attempts but it was quite worth it. Very satisfying, and a fun ruleset.

Fantastic! Very challenging chaos construction with some great unique logic. Most difficult in the first half, then easier. The final irregular sudoku is mercifully smooth and easy. Very rewarding construction, really deserves more solves!

a chaos construction of epic proportions. A very narrow but completely logical solution path. thanks.

I don't think I've ever enjoyed a two and a half hour-long solve quite as much as I enjoyed this one.
