This puzzle is from a series of "nerd snipe" constructions, originally posted on the CTC fan discord server. I recently revisited the "fewest cages" task (see Tales of Brave Ulysses), and was able to lower the record again to 6 cages. I am confident that this is the minimum (though the cell count can almost certainly be lowered).
This is a hard puzzle, but with some absolutely gorgeous logic and multiple ways to arrive at the same conclusions. Good luck!

Absolutely crazy and miraculous. To know that I'd made a logical leap (which lead to almost different solve path) then had to solve it again to know another solve path is quite painful, but both were really cool and worth my efforts :)
