Chaos Construction: Numbered Regions #2

(Published on 2. October 2022, 15:14 by Jesper)

Rules

Divide the grid into regions, each consisting of nine orthogonally connected cells. Each row, column and region must contain the digits 1 to 9 once each.

The digit in the top-left cell of a region (its leftmost cell in its highest row) is its region number. All region numbers are different.

The small given number in the corner of a cage is the sum of all digits in the cage, plus the sum of the region numbers of all regions represented therein. Note that each region number is counted only once, regardless of how many cells of the region are present in the cage. Digits in cages cannot repeat.

Example (6x6)
The region numbers are marked with dashed circles.

Penpa+: Example (6x6)

The puzzle follows:

This was indeed trickier than #1 (esp. r3 and 24 in c4- wow)! The cages were wisely chosen. I wished I'd seen the link to the CTC App earlier, it would have speeden up the whole thing enormously ... . But anyway- great work!

Amazing puzzle, and one of my most personally satisfying solves for ages because I broke it quite near the end, backtracked to a point where I thought I might have taken a leap, found out my logic there was sound but I had made a stupid mistake later on. Great fun, thanks.

A beautiful puzzle and to my surprise it is by far not as difficult as I thought. Thank you so much for setting this beauty, Jesper!

Outstanding puzzle! Tough start and relatively smooth afterwards.

Very good.

If there are problems with penpa, you can ask Swaroop, he reacts immediately. But removing all notes outside the grid and then removing all extra rows and columns usually makes the solution check work.

Amazing logic through the whole puzzle ! The first sequence was epic. The vertical 24 cage was very satisfying and thrilling as I thought I had broken it until I understood how it held so tightly! I'm impressed that you managed to get 2 very different puzzles with the same new rule as a basis. Thanks !

Wow! Outstanding puzzle. Very difficult, and yet I was fully confident I was on the right track the whole time (a rare combination), which I think speaks to how precisely-constructed it is.

Also, thanks, Xendari, for the SudokuPad link.

That was a really enjoyable solve, the logic flowed amazingly - although the ruleset made me think I had broken the puzzle quite a few times. Thank you very much for setting and sharing!

I solved this using sudokupad, if anyone else would like a link: https://tinyurl.com/yeyt3jtc
