- Normal Sudoku rules apply.
- Clues outside the grid give the sum of either the first or last X digits from the clue in the respective row/column, where X is the digit nearest the clue.

This is the 1st higher than 2 stars puzzle I solved. The idea was great and although I felt stuck many times along the way, there was always something beautiful to find.

What an absolutely gorgeous puzzle!! You start out by thinking that this can't be too difficult, what with so many clues given. But then comes the humbling, and you realise that no, no, you can't make "that" assumption, and you recognise that overlap has a devious cousin, so cleverly lurking in the grid at places you least expect. And then you smile :) Take a bow, and thanks, @ fjam, for this beauty. This is perhaps my longest comment on this forum, and this puzzle so totally deserves it. Everyone should try this!! A surprising puzzle, wth a very intricate but elegant solve path. an unusual take on X-sums that contorts the brain, for our twisted intellectual pleasure. Well done !
