Yin Yang Sashigane 10x10
(Published on 24. September 2022, 10:18 by Oripy)
This is my very first pencil puzzle (that is not a Sudoku). After a bit of testing it was very well received so I decided to share it here.
Rules:
- Normal Sashigane rules apply:
Divide the grid into regions of orthogonally connected cells (representing Sashigane, a Japanese carpenter's square). Each region must be an L shape with a width of one cell. Arrows must lie at one end of an L and point toward the bend. Circles must lie at the bend of an L, and if one contains a number, the L inside must contain the indicated amount of cells.
- Additionally, shade some Sashigane (the whole L-shaped region must either be fully shaded or unshaded) such that the shaded and unshaded cells form a Yin-Yang pattern:
- All shaded cells and all unshaded cells must be orthogonally connected.
- No 2x2 region may be fully shaded or unshaded.
Puzzle can be tried on Penpa+ here
Solution code: From top to bottom, the number of different L in each row. Followed by column 8 shading of each cell top to bottom, "S" for shaded, "U" for unshaded.
10 digits followed by 10 letters, no space, no comma

Fixed solution code explanation. Sorry I meant to say column 8 instead of 9!
