Peepholes

(Published on 31. October 2022, 14:00 by djorr)

This was inspired by zetamath's puzzle Vignettes. Enjoy!

Rules: There are four 4x4 puzzles, each of which has normal 4x4 sudoku rules (place the digits 1 to 4 in every row, column and box). Additionally, for each grid, exactly one cell in every row, column, and 2x2 box is a doubler. A doubler cell counts for twice the cell's value. In each grid, the numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 must be doubled exactly once. No two grids may have doublers in the same row/column position.

The cages in the grid are look-and-say cages. Digits may repeat in the cages and the number in the top left corner describes which values are in the cage. For example, a 12 cage means there is a cell in the cage with a value of 2. Or, a 13 cage means there is a cell in the cage with a value of 3.

Would have been easier (but still probably 2*) had I remembered the rule about the unique doubler numbers in each grid.

Glad you got through it bbutrosghali, thanks for solving!
