Episcopal Sudoku

(Published on 12. September 2022, 18:09 by Arlo Lipof)

The Collegium Episcoporum has gathered.

Rules:

  • Normal Sudoku rules apply.
  • Anti-Bishop Constraint. Every odd digit is a (chess) Bishop. Same digit Bishops cannot be placed along the same diagonal.
  • Consecutive orthogonal neighbours. Every even digit not on a grey square is a Bishop Assistant, i.e. it must be orthogonally adjacent to at least one Bishop of consecutive value (e.g. an Assistant '4' must be adjacent to a Bishop '3' or '5').
  • Non-consecutive orthogonal neighbours. Every even digit on a grey square is a Grey Eminence sent by the Holy See, i.e. it cannot be orthogonally adjacent to a Bishop of consecutive value.
