Pointing to hidden talents

(Published on 23. August 2022, 14:47 by FlowJo)

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Renban line: digits on the purple line must form a set of consecutive digits in any order. Digits may not repeat on the Renban line.

Cells separated by an "X" must sum to 10.

The cell on the left-hand side of the "<" sign must be smaller than the cell on the right-hand side of the sign.

Digits along an arrow must sum to the digit in the circle.

In addition, the arrows have a hidden talent. The digits along the arrows must fulfil one of the following conditions:
- they form a Renban line (set of consecutive, non-repeating digits)
- they form a Palindrome line (they read the same from both directions)
- they form a German Whispers line (neighboring cells must have a difference of 5 or greater)

There must be at least two but there may not be more than three of each talent hidden in the arrows. The solver must find the hidden talent of each arrow. In case an arrow fulfills more than one condition, the solver needs to decide which talent is counted.

I always find it hard to judge the difficulty level. I think there are a few quite tricky deductions required (but then again, I am also not an expert solver). If you think I should adjust the difficulty, please let me know!

This was quite tough! Some very intricately woven logic and symmetry that took time to wrap my head around.

Thanks for setting it :-)

Great, thank you for solving it :-)

A question. If an arrow fulfils 2 talents, does the one I don't "choose" count towards the maximum of 3? Eg. is it ok if there are 5 arrows that are both palindromes and renbans?

---------------

Yes, your assumption is correct. One arrow counts to only one maximum (one arrow has only one "talent").
