XV-Lines

(Published on 20. August 2022, 20:08 by Sumanta(ANU))

I think, I have not seen this constraint before. So decided to explore it. I am able to make an easy puzzle out of it. I think this constraint can be very useful, since it allows to place the X or V diagonally, which is not possible in normal XV sudoku.

Please let me know in the comments if this constraint already exist. Also please let me know if you found this nice constraint. That will help me to explore it further. Happy solving

===Rules:===

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

XV-lines: Along the blue lines neighboring digits sum either to 5 or 10. For example, -14641919- or -555- (if allowed by sudoku) are valid arrangements of the digits.

Definitely approachable. Definitely enjoyable. A gem of a puzzle. Thank you.

The key intuition was that a low digit had two choices (low becomes low or high), while high must connect to low

Thanks KyleBaran for the solve and feedback :). Yes you are correct. Additionally the digits form three different sets.

Excelent new constraint, lovely puzzle!

Thanks Tomacco :)

Eh that was harder cause it was a new constraint, took me α while to figure out the resulting restriction on some of the cells.

Nice way using the XV, maybe will be possible also 5, 10 and 15.

Thanks eloi-blok for the solve and feedback. Yes, it is a nice thought. Including 15 will give the lines a little more flexibility. I shall check that option.

I haven't seen this constraint either. XV-line is a fun concept! The construction with how you set up boxes 3+5+7 was clever. Thanks for putting this together!

Thank you Pepper wood for the feedback and solve. I am happy that you liked the puzzle. I shall try to combine XV lines with other ruleset in future. Thanks:)...
