Earthworm City (Killer + Renban Sudoku)

(Published on 17. August 2022, 10:57 by Sktx)

==== LINKS TO SOLVE ====

F-puzzles - CtC app

==== RULES ====

Normal Sudoku rules apply : fill the grid with digits 1 to 9 appearing each exactly once in every row, column, and 3x3 box.

Killer cages : Digits can not repeat inside a given cage, and sum to the total indicated at the top left corner of the cage (if given).

Renbans : Cells along a purple line form a set of consecutive digits, with no repeats.

==== ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS ====

Big thanks to Knall, Miky, PotatoHead21 and Hecspeed who tested and gave precious feedback on this puzzle !

==== NOTE ====

I was informed by testers that this cage layout was already used in another puzzle, with (probably) similar reasoning at work... It is a very unfortunate coincidence that I stumbled upon the very same layout, and I hope krangune won't feel spoiled by that. Here is their (awesomely rated) puzzle :

Exactly eighty - by krangune

Solution code: Digits from Row 5 (left to right) and then COlumn 5 (top to bottom). 18 digits total, no space character.

It was an absolute pleasure to test this puzzle. The interactions between the renbans and cages are just amazing. The solve path is very elegant and really cool. The cage layout might have been used before, but that doesn't make your puzzle any less unique. There is a feeling of novelty in the solve path with a great break-in idea.
