Miscommunication
“What should we create for her this year?”, asked one of the puzzle gnomes to the chief. “I don’t know, just look at her favorite puzzle types for some inspiration. I want the two of you to come up with something within a week." he answered whilst pointing at two inexperienced puzzle gnomes.After a week, the two gnomes returned to the chief. “Here, we made a nice Japanese Cave puzzle”, said the first gnome. The second gnome responded: “Huh, I thought we were making a Congruence Loop! I was already so confused when I saw you placed your clues in the center of cells, so then I continued to make a Congruence Underground from it." The chief took a deep sigh of despair, not understanding how they could mix up two such different puzzle types, and summoned the master puzzle gnome to his office. “This puzzle is a mess because these two failed to communicate. Do you think you can fix it?”, the chief asked.
The master puzzle gnome nodded and left the room. When he came back, he was excited: “Very interesting! It seems like they accidentally created a permaculture, in which one area is the Japanese Cave and another is the Congruent Underground, although it is possible that for some cells it is not clear to which area they belong. Also, the congruent segments (counted from cell center to center) do not seem to branch anywhere, not even in the clue itself. The Japanese Cave is just a standard Japanese Sums with digits one to nine, along with connectivity rules from Cave puzzles. Anyway, I have added an example, with digits one to six instead, to make it all easy to understand. Oh, and to make the main puzzle a bit more thematic, I decided to encrypt all digits, after which I replaced all clues that are not G, A, B, or I with question marks. “That’s great!”, the chief responded. “We could even theme it around an excavation of an ancient transport system now.”
Example:
Solution code: Row 11 and column 12. Enter the number values, I for straight segment, L for corner, T for branch, X for crossing, and - for empty field.

Insanely difficult and beautiful puzzle! I solved half of it while missing an obvious deduction, which made my life a lot harder.

Pffff ... Das Rätsel ist in den letzten Monaten nicht leichter geworden. Aber - falls das möglich ist - noch schöner! ;-) Nochmals vielen lieben Dank, das war ein ganz wunderbares Geschenk!

A truly ingenious puzzle! So many (of my favourite) variants wrapped up in a magnificent puzzle with beautiful interactions between them all throughout the solve. Thank you very much indeed!
