Chaos Construction: Sightlines

(Published on 3. June 2022, 07:40 by KNT)

Place the numbers from 1 to 9 exactly once in every row, column, and region. Each region is orthogonally connected and must be located by the solver.

A number in a cell with arrows indicates the number of cells seen in the indicated directions combined (including itself), where region borders obstruct vision.

A 1-6 example is provided:

Solution code: Type the digits (no spaces) of the region containing R1C1 as follows: Row 1's digit in the region (left to right), Row 2's digits in the region (left to right), etc. 9 digits total.

Excellent work by KNT as usual. My sightlines were impaired at various times towards the end, but happily got there in the end.

This puzzle took me like 4 tries and probably 4 hours in total. An absolutely amazing puzzle, I was just sorta dumb.

I have broken this puzzle 2 times now, no color for R9C5, any hints for what i'm messing up?

Thank you once more for this wonderful puzzles and all the other ones!

I managed to break this puzzle the same way 3 separate times, truly a master of solving

This puzzle unlike my solving skills is actually masterful though

Added Chaos Construction Tag

Very nice and smooth one! I broke and restarted it twice, but only for a very silly reason for which I can only blame myself.

on 17. August 2022, 04:20 by peacherwu2
Broke it many times toward region completion...

Such a cracked puzzle 10/10

Exceptional and masterful puzzle for such a simple looking ruleset. The bits at 3 bottom rows hurt my brain a lot but it's unfolded in a magical way and really, I enjoyed how everything works in the first half of the solve ;)

Great puzzle as always! Very enjoyable and challenging but never frustrating.

Another masterpiece with a very simple ruleset and powerful logic throughout the puzzle. Loved how it all started right in the middle of the puzzle (at least in my solution path), rather than in a corner or along an edge like in most chaos construction. Very enjoyable !

WOW WOW WOW!
Definitely took me a while to wrap my head around everything but I absolutely loved it. Thanks so much KNT! I hope Simon gets this one just so you can get all the due praise!

Very nice - especially the break-in, but only 3⅔ stars for me (without investigating the example puzzle) - perhaps because I've spent quite a bit of time setting Riverbank Sentinels which have similar logic:

A very daring solution code there, KNT. Gives the entire secrets of the puzzle away! :P

Even the example puzzle was a 5/5 in terms of entertainment. Looking forward to attempting the real one!

very nice. Thanks.

Lovely puzzle, beautiful construction, really interesting ruleset for this. Well done.

Wonderful puzzle!

Absolute gem of a puzzle, though, could we really expect anything else from KNT. I'm so fond of these puzzles that are a continuous string of reasonably challenging deductions and rewards, keeps you engaged throughout.

I agree that it's not a monstrous 5 star, so should be attemptable for most, if not all.

Thanks so much, KNT!

Wow.

Awesome, thanks! A challenging puzzle, but I never got stuck, so it was a lot of fun. The 6x6 felt quite straightforward to me, but it is definitely helpful to get used to the ruleset.

Great puzzle! It has many beautiful deductions along the way. The 6x6 example was fun too :-)
